Heavy fighting broke out in Yemen's Al-Masrakh district on Friday as Houthi forces launched a significant military escalation, attempting to seize control of the strategic Al-Nabi Dhuha'ih mountain and Kahlan fortress. Resistance forces engaged the attackers in intense confrontations. The Houthi militia initiated a coordinated assault from multiple directions, targeting the Al-Aqrosh and Al-Naqil areas from the west, and the villages of Arsh and Al-Mu'aynah from the north. These advances were supported by heavy artillery fire. However, defending forces at Kahlan fortress successfully repelled the initial attack, inflicting substantial casualties on the attacking militia, with dozens killed and wounded. Seeking to regain momentum, the militia launched a second offensive wave at approximately 10:30 AM towards Kahlan fortress. This renewed push was bolstered by intensive shelling from the Kurayt hill and Sanamat village. Resistance fighters effectively countered this second assault, driving back the militia and resulting in the deaths of three militants whose bodies were left on the battlefield. The fierce engagements led to the martyrdom of Mohammed Abdul Wahid Al-Kahlani and the injury of two civilians. The casualties resulted from intense artillery shelling by the militia targeting the village of Al-Kahlani, underscoring the severity of the military operations currently underway in the region. |
