Government forces in Yemen's Taiz Governorate have recaptured a strategic mountaintop in the Jabal Aswad region following intense clashes with Houthi militants. The site, recently seized by the Houthis in an apparent effort to encircle government fighters at the Al-Hangar checkpoint, was retaken after fierce engagements. Sources on the ground confirmed that all Houthi elements present at the captured position were eliminated during the operation. Details regarding casualties sustained by the government forces were not immediately available. In parallel operations, the Yemeni Air Force conducted nine airstrikes targeting Houthi positions and gatherings across various fronts within Taiz Governorate. These strikes are part of ongoing military efforts to dislodge Houthi forces. Specifically, five of the airstrikes were directed at Houthi locations in the Al-Dabab fronts, west of Taiz city. The remaining four strikes impacted Houthi positions in the Al-Masrakh fronts. Information concerning the human and material losses resulting from these aerial bombardments has not yet been disclosed. |
