Presidential Guard Unit Captures Five Houthi Commanders in West Taiz

The Fifth Presidential Guard Brigade has released video footage documenting the capture of five Houthi leaders during recent battles in the western front of Taiz, southwest Yemen.

The recording, shared on the brigade's official Facebook account, shows five detainees. Three of them are identified as holding leadership positions within anti-narcotics departments in areas controlled by the Iran-backed Houthi militia.

According to information provided within the footage, the detainees are Akram Amer, who allegedly serves as the director of the Narcotics Department in the Houthi-controlled Ministry of Interior in Sana'a; Mohammed Saeed Al-Junaid, impersonating the director of the Anti-Narcotics Department in Taiz; and Al-Izz Ali Hamid Al-Mutawakkil, who claims to be the director of the Narcotics Department in Dhamar.

The fighting fronts in Taiz Governorate are experiencing military escalation and increasing confrontations between government forces and the Houthi militia. Engagements continue across several axes as government forces endeavor to consolidate their battlefield positions and counter Houthi movements. Taiz remains one of Yemen's most prominent fronts, with clashes persisting around the city and in rural areas of the governorate for years.
