One tribesman was killed and two others were injured on Sunday following clashes that erupted at a Houthi militia checkpoint in the Al-Qaif area, west of Al-Yatmah in the Khab wa Ash Sha'af district, northern Al-Jouf province. This incident marks a continuation of escalating tensions in the region for the second consecutive day. Tribal sources identified the deceased as Abdullah Masoud bin Zab'a, and confirmed that two other tribesmen from the Al-Wahas - Dhu Hussein tribe sustained injuries during the confrontations with militia elements at the Al-Qarn checkpoint. The sources further indicated that the fighting resulted in casualties among the Houthi militia ranks, with intermittent clashes persisting with tribal groups in the area. This escalation follows the killing of three members of the Al-Ja'id tribe, affiliated with the Daham tribes, and injuries to two others on Saturday, by Houthi checkpoint gunfire in the Al-Muhair area. This incident occurred mere hours after two Houthi militia members were killed at another checkpoint in the same district, which subsequently triggered widespread tribal confrontations whose repercussions are ongoing. In related developments, activists have called upon the Daham tribes and all tribes of Al-Jouf to unite their ranks to confront what they described as "Houthi militia violations," emphasizing that the continued targeting of tribes individually necessitates a unified tribal stance to halt the recurring aggressions. |
