One person was killed and six others sustained varying injuries in renewed tribal confrontations involving heavy weaponry that erupted Friday morning in Shabwah Governorate, southeastern Yemen.

A medical source at Shabwah General Hospital in the city of Ataq confirmed the reception of one deceased individual and six wounded as a result of the clashes that broke out between the Al Adio (Luqmaush) tribes in the Al Khobar area of Habhan district.

A tribal source stated that the confrontations involved the use of medium-caliber weapons and heavy artillery between the Al Ahmed bin Hussein and Al Shaibah factions, resulting in significant damage to residential homes.

Amidst the escalating violence, popular and media circles have issued urgent appeals to the tribal sheikhs and elders of Shabwah and Abyan to intervene immediately and establish a field presence between the parties to cease fire and protect lives and property.

Residents also called on local authorities and security agencies for urgent intervention to halt what they described as a flagrant violation of public order and the sanctity of homes. They pointed out that these confrontations occurred after the failure of a tribal mediation effort aimed at resolving an old blood feud.

Several regions in Yemen are experiencing a rise in tribal conflicts and renewed blood feuds, against the backdrop of fragile security conditions and the repercussions of the ongoing war in the country.
