Residents of Bart Al-Anan in Al Jawf governorate, under Houthi militia control, have established a protest camp in front of the Zam'an administration in Al-Marashi district, demanding the handover of an individual accused of murdering Abdullah Al-Barzi. The protest commenced on Sunday, one day after traders in Bart Al-Anan and Bart Al-Marashi markets initiated a comprehensive commercial strike. This action was a direct response to the killing of Al-Barzi by a Houthi element identified as Abdulsalam Ja'dar, an incident that has generated widespread discontent among the local populace. Protesters have affirmed their commitment to an ongoing sit-in until their demands are met. The primary demand is the surrender of the accused to the relevant authorities for trial under the law, ensuring justice for the victim's family. The adoption of peaceful protest marks a new phase in the escalating demonstrations. The initial phase involved the closure of local markets, amid escalating tribal and community calls for swift justice and accountability to prevent perpetrators from evading punishment. |
