Security Forces Dismantle Houthi Explosives Lab, Arrest Suspects in Hadramaut

Security forces in Hadramaut Governorate, eastern Yemen, have conducted an operation in the Al-Abr district, dismantling a site allegedly used for manufacturing explosives and IEDs for the Houthi militia and apprehending several wanted individuals.

The Emergency Forces stated in a release on Monday that the operation, executed in coordination with the Public Prosecution, local authorities, and the Central Security Intelligence command, followed thorough investigations and legal procedures. The operation targeted a residence belonging to an individual accused by authorities of ties to the Houthi intelligence apparatus.

The statement detailed that the location in Al-Abr district, which holds a strategic position connecting Hadramaut, Shabwah, Marib, and Al-Jawf governorates, served as a workshop for preparing IEDs, harboring wanted operatives, and engaging in activities deemed a threat to security and stability.

Initial investigations, according to the statement, revealed the site's involvement in plans to target supply lines on the international road, in addition to its connection to various security incidents, including attacks on civilians and military personnel. During the raid, forces reportedly apprehended one wanted individual implicated in robbery, banditry, and acts of violence over recent years, along with the son of the homeowner. An explosives manufacturing lab, prepared IEDs, weapons, military equipment, night vision devices, and narcotics were also discovered.

The Emergency Forces confirmed that engineering teams have commenced securing the site and handling the confiscated materials and explosives, in preparation for completing investigations and referring the accused and case file to the competent judicial authorities.

This operation occurs amidst escalating security concerns in Yemen's eastern regions, where routes connecting oil-producing governorates and border crossings are critical pathways for security forces, trade, and supply movements.
