Osama Al-Radfani, commander of the Fourth Brigade of the Homeland Shield Forces, has been killed in an armed ambush in the Al-Abr region. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. Initial reports indicate that Al-Radfani, also known as "Abu Al-Ezz" and commander of the "Al-Dakam" brigade within the Second Division of the Homeland Shield Forces, was targeted by assailants in Al-Abr. The identities and motives of the attackers have not yet been determined. Al-Radfani was a notable military figure within the Homeland Shield Forces. His brigade was previously stationed at the Jabal Al-Zaytoun camp in the Al-Anad district of Lahj Governorate. His name previously surfaced in February 2025 amidst significant military disputes and armed confrontations between his forces and the general command of the Homeland Shield Forces. These conflicts arose from his refusal of decisions regarding the appointment of officers within his brigade and his objection to relocating the brigade's headquarters from Al-Anad to the Qa'wah area in Al-Subayhah. In July 2026, Al-Radfani reappeared in southern tribal and local circles following his appointment as a commander in the Al-Rayan area, known as "Matrah Al-Karama," amid recent tribal movements in the region.
