An elderly woman sustained severe injuries and fell into a coma following an assault by the entourage of a Houthi leader who attempted to seize and excavate a historic cemetery in Wadi Ja'eerah, Al-Salafiyah district, Reimah Governorate.

Local sources reported that Houthi leader Fares Rubaa supervised an operation aimed at asserting control over the cemetery. The elderly woman, Fatima Ali Ali Al-Wathn, who has hearing and speech impairments, was attacked while attempting to prevent the robbery and excavation.

According to the sources, the Houthi leader's companions assaulted the woman with rifle butts before throwing her from a height, causing severe bleeding and resulting in her comatose state. Her condition remains critical as she receives treatment in the intensive care unit of a referral hospital in the Ma'bar area.

This incident followed a series of abductions by the militia, targeting the victim's husband, her brother, and another individual. These detentions were reportedly intended to clear the area and facilitate the excavation of the cemetery using heavy machinery under heavy guard.

The incident has sparked widespread anger and dismay among the local population, with calls for an investigation into the matter, accountability for those responsible, and an immediate halt to any actions that violate the sanctity of cemeteries or target civilians.
