A tribal leader and his young son were fatally shot by armed assailants in the Rida district of Amran Governorate, a region under Houthi militia control.

Local sources reported that gunmen, believed to be affiliated with the "Al-Shibari" family, ambushed Sheikh Jubran Hazam Dhafran Harash and his ten-year-old son, Nasr. The attackers reportedly opened fire on their vehicle, resulting in immediate fatalities.

Following the incident, the area experienced heightened tribal mobilization and the deployment of fighters to defensive positions, signaling a potential military escalation. A tribal mediation effort was subsequently launched, which successfully persuaded the involved parties to temporarily withdraw armed personnel from barracks and defensive posts to de-escalate the situation and allow for customary and legal resolutions.

Amran Governorate and other areas under Houthi control are currently experiencing a notable state of security breakdown. Observers attribute this instability, in part, to the Houthi militia and the absence of effective judicial and security authorities, which they claim contribute to the exacerbation of long-standing tribal disputes, leading to deadly confrontations that claim civilian lives.
