Four siblings sustained critical injuries on Saturday when a landmine, reportedly planted by Houthi militias, exploded in the Al-Durayhimi district of Hodeidah Governorate. Local sources reported that the explosive device detonated in the village of Al-Makaiminiyah, within the Al-Munaferah district, while the children were playing near their home. The victims, identified as the children of citizen Omar Yahya, include Ammar Omar Yahya, Yahya Omar Yahya, Jumaa Omar Yahya, and Hanadi Omar Yahya, the eldest of whom is no older than twelve years old. Initial medical reports indicated that the injuries were concentrated in the limbs and various parts of their bodies, necessitating immediate transfer to operating rooms for complex surgeries in an effort to save their lives. Hodeidah Governorate is considered one of the most heavily contaminated areas in Yemen with landmines and explosive devices, which militias have planted in residential neighborhoods and along roadways. Children constitute the majority of the victims. |
