A federal judge has temporarily blocked the Trump administration's decision to terminate Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for approximately 3,000 Yemeni nationals, preventing the order from taking effect next week.

U.S. District Judge Dale Ho in Manhattan issued the injunction in response to a lawsuit filed by Yemeni citizens challenging the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) move to revoke the TPS program previously granted to them.

This ruling follows closely after the U.S. Supreme Court, with its conservative majority, heard arguments on a similar challenge concerning judicial decisions that had stalled the termination of TPS for over 350,000 individuals from Haiti and 6,100 from Syria.

Under U.S. federal law, TPS is granted to individuals from countries experiencing armed conflict, natural disasters, or other exceptional circumstances, providing them with work authorization and protection from deportation for a specified period.

The Trump administration, as part of its stringent immigration policies, has sought to end the TPS program for citizens of 13 countries. However, these efforts have encountered a series of legal challenges and judicial rulings that have obstructed their implementation.

The Department of Homeland Security has not yet issued an official statement regarding the latest judicial decision.
