The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported over 3,000 new cholera cases and three associated deaths in Yemen during the first quarter of 2026. According to a recent report from the WHO's Global Epidemiological Update, Yemen recorded 3,177 suspected cases of cholera and acute watery diarrhea between January 1 and March 29, 2026. The report also indicated that three fatalities were linked to the outbreak during the same period. The month of March alone saw a significant increase, with 969 new cholera and acute watery diarrhea cases reported across the country, including two deaths. Globally, the WHO confirmed a cumulative total of 58,740 reported cases of cholera and acute watery diarrhea in the first quarter of 2026, resulting in 732 deaths across 22 countries worldwide. |
