Forces in the Second Military Region successfully intercepted a significant cache of weapons, mortar shells, and explosives during a late-night operation west of Mukalla. The Al-Hamra Battalion, part of the Barshid Brigade, apprehended a civilian Suzuki Vitara vehicle attempting to transport the illicit cargo from Mukalla towards Shabwah Governorate. The seizure occurred at the battalion's main military checkpoint. A thorough inspection of the suspect vehicle revealed the carefully concealed contraband. The confiscated items included four Kalashnikov rifles, nine mortar shells, 35 rounds of 35mm caliber ammunition, and 20 plastic charges commonly used in the manufacturing of explosives. Further inspection uncovered an advanced American gas detector and 19 containers of specialized explosive packaging materials. This discovery underscores the potential danger posed by the shipment and its intended destructive purposes. |
