A 13-year-old boy was killed by Houthi sniper fire on Sunday as he was returning home from school in the Al-Kalaba area, north of Taiz city in southwestern Yemen.

Local sources reported that the child, Ibrahim Jalal, sustained a direct fatal gunshot wound to the heart from a Houthi sniper who targeted him as he left his school. He was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his severe injuries.

This incident is the latest in a series of ongoing violations attributed to Houthi forces in Taiz, where civilians, particularly children, are frequently subjected to systematic sniper attacks and targeting.

The report also noted other recent incidents in Yemen, including a death in Dhamar due to tribal clashes following the obstruction of an ambulance by Houthi militias, the displacement of hundreds of families in the first quarter of the year according to the International Organization for Migration, a shooting incident in Amran resulting in one death and one injury, and the escape of prisoners from a detention center in Al-Hada district, Dhamar. Additionally, artillery shelling was reported targeting Houthi positions northwest of Dhale.
