Yemen's mine clearance project "Masam" announced the clearance of 223,302 square meters and the removal of 1,231 mines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices during the first week of April.

A statement from the project's media office detailed that the devices removed during this period included 1,173 unexploded ordnance, 49 anti-tank mines, and 9 anti-personnel mines, highlighting the diverse range of dangers faced by field teams.

These operations contribute to reducing direct threats to civilian lives and enable the repurposing of cleared land, thereby enhancing the prospects for the return of normal life in affected areas.

In a related development, the operations room indicated that the total number of mines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices removed in the Midi district since the project's inception has reached 8,330, underscoring the scale of the ongoing challenge in one of the most heavily impacted regions.

These efforts are part of the humanitarian operations undertaken by the "Masam" project, aiming to mitigate the risks posed by mines and remnants of war, which constitute a persistent threat to the safety of civilians in Yemen.
