Boy Found Murdered North of Sanaa After Ramadan Disappearance

A teenage boy, Ghassan Tawfiq Hammoud Haroush, aged 14, was discovered murdered in the Al-Arouq district of the Al-Matar neighborhood, north of the Houthi-controlled capital, Sanaa. His body was found by residents after an intensive search that began when he went missing on the 24th of Ramadan.

Eyewitnesses from the neighborhood reported finding the boy's body in a state of decomposition within an abandoned courtyard, indicating the crime occurred several days prior. Residents noted that the body's features were significantly degraded, and identification was only possible through the clothing he was wearing on the night of his disappearance, which was after the evening prayer.

Sources suggest that the motive behind this horrific crime may have been robbery. The boy was reportedly carrying approximately 300,000 Yemeni Rials when he left his home in the Bir Zaid area, making him a potential target for criminal gangs involved in looting and ambushes.

This tragic incident highlights the severe state of security breakdown and the prevalence of criminal offenses in areas under militia control. Organized gangs are reportedly operating openly, exploiting the acute economic deterioration and the absence of the rule of law, thereby placing citizens, particularly children, in constant danger.
