The United Nations Mission to support the Hodeidah Agreement (UNMHA) formally concluded its operations on Tuesday after completing the transfer of its remaining functions to the Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen, as mandated by Security Council Resolution 2813. UNMHA issued a brief statement confirming that a joint team, comprising mission members and representatives from the Special Envoy's office, held virtual consultations on March 26, 2026. These discussions were chaired by the Acting Head of the Mission, Mary Yamashita, and included delegates from the Yemeni government participating in the Redeployment Coordination Committee (RCC). The focus of these deliberations centered on evaluating the accomplishments of the RCC, addressing outstanding tasks, and finalizing the necessary arrangements for the transitional phase integrating operations with the Special Envoy's office. The cessation of UNMHA's activities and the consolidation of its responsibilities follow several months of consultations with the parties to the Hodeidah Agreement. This action represents the final implementation of Security Council Resolution 2813, which stipulated the termination of UNMHA's mandate effective March 31st of this year. |
