The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate (YJS) expressed profound concern and sorrow on Saturday regarding the treacherous crime that resulted in the death of journalist Abdul Samad Al-Qadi, correspondent for Al-Sahil Al-Gharbi website, who was assassinated by armed individuals on a motorcycle outside his home in central Taiz city last Thursday evening. The Syndicate vehemently condemned this heinous act, holding the local authorities and security agencies in Taiz Governorate fully accountable for uncovering the circumstances surrounding the killing. The YJS demanded the swift pursuit and prosecution of the perpetrators and all those involved to ensure they face deterrent justice. The Syndicate called for immediate and decisive measures to enhance security and provide necessary protection for journalists and all citizens, thereby preventing the recurrence of such crimes that threaten societal peace. Furthermore, the YJS reiterated its strong denunciation of the persistent targeting of journalists and media professionals, asserting that this assassination constitutes a serious violation and a direct threat to the safety and security of the media community. The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate urged all organizations concerned with freedom of expression, particularly the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) and the Arab Journalists Union, to show solidarity with Yemeni journalists, exert pressure to reveal the truth, ensure perpetrators are not granted impunity, and continue supporting efforts to protect journalists and uphold press freedom in Yemen. |
