Houthi Militia Fire Kills One Civilian, Wounds Another at Saada Checkpoint

One civilian was killed and another sustained serious injuries after being shot by Houthi militia elements at a security checkpoint in the Al-Hashwah district of Saada Governorate, northwest Yemen, marking another serious violation against civilians under the group's control.

Local sources reported that the deceased citizen, Hadi Maqtoof, died instantly, while Saif Jarallah Maqtoof suffered critical wounds following direct gunfire from militia personnel stationed at the security point upon their approach.

The sources further clarified that the two victims were traveling from the "Birt Al-Anan" area in Al-Jawf Governorate toward the Al-Hashwah district in Saada when they were suddenly and unjustifiably targeted.

This incident occurs amid a significant escalation in deadly shootings targeting travelers and citizens at Houthi checkpoints. Al-Jawf, Saada, and Amran governorates have witnessed a series of similar incidents over the past few months, resulting in numerous civilian casualties amid a pervasive atmosphere of security collapse and disregard for innocent lives in areas controlled by the militia.
