A significant fire erupted on Monday within the Al-Jufaynah camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the Marib Governorate of eastern Yemen, resulting in the destruction of several tents and caravans, though no human casualties were reported.

The Executive Unit for Managing IDP Camps issued a brief statement via its Facebook page confirming material damages to numerous IDP dwellings inside the Al-Jufaynah camp, emphasizing the absence of any personal injuries.

The Unit did not provide further details regarding the cause of the blaze or the final extent of the damage. This incident occurs amid a recurring pattern of fire outbreaks within the governorate's displacement camps.

Activist Nauman Al-Huthaifi, Chairman of the Union of Marginalized Blacks in Yemen, stated that the fire specifically affected the shelters of several marginalized families within the camp. He issued an urgent appeal to the local authorities and humanitarian organizations to intervene immediately to provide necessary assistance to the affected families.

Official statistics indicate that Marib's IDP camps experienced 133 fire incidents over the past year. These incidents led to the deaths of eight individuals and injuries to 34 others, alongside the burning of 559 tents, network structures, and caravans, highlighting persistent deficiencies in safety measures and inadequate infrastructure within the camps.
