Residents in the Yemeni city of Ibb are facing a severe and escalating water supply crisis since the beginning of Ramadan, marked by prolonged pumping delays and extended outages across numerous residential districts, sparking widespread public discontent in a governorate renowned for its substantial water wealth.

Local residents report that many neighborhoods have not received water for several weeks, while others experience intermittent and extremely weak flow. This scarcity has compelled numerous families to resort to purchasing water from private tankers at inflated prices, coinciding with the heightened water demands characteristic of the holy month.

Citizens and activists have voiced strong disapproval on social media platforms, characterizing the ongoing situation as a clear reflection of mismanagement within the governorate's Water Corporation. They are urgently demanding that the responsible authorities provide transparent explanations for the recurring interruptions and implement immediate corrective measures.

Activists have specifically accused the Ibb Water Corporation of dereliction in its public service duties, holding its management directly accountable for the worsening crisis. They emphasize that the region possesses sufficient water reserves that should preclude such service disruptions.

Meanwhile, local sources indicate that the Water Corporation consistently collects monthly revenues from subscribers, which are deposited into the institution's accounts. This financial regularity raises significant public questions regarding the underlying causes of the persistent pumping failures and service interruptions.

Residents of Ibb are calling upon the relevant local authorities, currently under the control of Houthi militias, to launch an impartial investigation into the crisis's origins and to establish sustainable solutions guaranteeing the regularity of water service, particularly given the already challenging living conditions endured by the populace.
