Yemen Coast Guard Searches for Two Missing Brothers Off Shabwah Coast

The Yemeni Coast Guard is intensifying search and rescue operations for two brothers, fishermen, who have gone missing off the coast of Shabwah Governorate. Despite extensive efforts, no results have been achieved as of the issuance of the latest statement.

According to a statement from the Coast Guard authority, necessary procedures were initiated immediately after receiving the report. Information regarding the incident has been disseminated through the Regional Information Exchange System (IORIS), and international partners and commercial vessels in the Gulf of Aden have been notified. Coordination channels have also been activated with entities possessing maritime and air capabilities in the region.

The Coast Guard branch in Shabwah continues to coordinate search efforts in collaboration with local authorities, security and military bodies, fishermen's associations, and citizens. Available resources, including fishing boats, are being utilized. A Coast Guard vessel, en route from Mukalla to Aden, also participated in maritime surveys covering a wide area along the coast between Mukalla and Ahwar, extending beyond territorial waters.

The authority has submitted a request to the higher command for additional support for the operations, including the potential deployment of a helicopter, to expand the search radius and expedite response times.

The Coast Guard urges all passing vessels, fishermen, and anyone with relevant information to report it promptly to aid the search efforts. The authority also emphasized the importance of adhering to maritime safety procedures before sailing to mitigate risks. The initial report of the missing brothers off the coast of Shabwah prompted the immediate commencement of standard procedures for such incidents, with the case being closely monitored since its inception.
