The National Committee for Investigation into Allegations of Human Rights Violations conducted an on-site inspection Sunday of several prisons and detention centers in the Hodeidah governorate, specifically targeting facilities in the districts of Hays and Al-Khawkhah, to assess the conditions of inmates and evaluate their legal and humanitarian circumstances.

The delegation, which included the committee's Vice Chairman, Judge Hussein Al-Mashdali, and Committee Member Judge Nasser Al-Awadli, surveyed four detention facilities affiliated with security and military entities. This action is part of a mandate to conduct field verification regarding allegations concerning detention conditions and adherence to established legal and humanitarian standards.

During the visit, the committee team reviewed the status of prisoners and detainees, including those held in connection with participation in the conflict. They received statements from several detainees, as well as from the officials managing the detention sites, to confirm the legality of the detentions and the availability of fundamental safeguards.

The Committee affirmed that this inspection falls within its legal jurisdiction to investigate alleged abuses, evaluate shelter and healthcare provisions, and ensure guarantees for contact with families and legal representation. These findings will ultimately be incorporated into the committee's periodic reports, based on the evidence substantiated during the field assessment.
