A Yemeni-American expatriate was fatally shot during an armed robbery at a convenience store where he was working in Baltimore, Maryland. Yemeni expatriate sources confirmed that the victim, identified as Khalid Saleh Al-Sharqi, succumbed to critical injuries sustained during the armed assault on Friday. The incident involved an armed assailant who reportedly entered the store and fired a handgun at Al-Sharqi. Sources detailed that the bullet struck Al-Sharqi in the liver area. Following the shooting, the perpetrator looted cash from the establishment and fled the scene to an unknown location. Al-Sharqi was rushed immediately to a local hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. However, he passed away inside the operating room due to the severity of his wounds. The deceased reportedly hailed from the Al-Sha'r district in the Ibb Governorate, central Yemen. This tragedy reflects a concerning trend, as numerous Yemeni expatriates across various U.S. states have been killed in recent years during armed incursions and robberies targeting their businesses. These incidents have prompted repeated calls from the community for more stringent deterrent measures to curb the escalation of such violent crimes. |
