The "Masam" project for demining in Yemen announced the removal of 1,256 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices during the first week of October, as part of its ongoing efforts to clear contaminated areas in the nation.

The project stated that its field teams successfully neutralized 1,201 unexploded ordnance items, 41 anti-tank mines, and 14 anti-personnel mines within the same period. Additionally, Masam cleared a total of 157,127 square meters of contaminated land.

In the Midi district of Hajjah governorate, Masam reported that its teams have removed 13,284 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices since the commencement of operations in the area. The total land area cleared in Midi amounts to 4,927,831 square meters.

According to Masam's data, the cumulative total of explosives removed by its teams across Yemen, from the project's inception in late June 2018 up to October 2, 2026, has reached 594,745 items. This includes 425,161 unexploded ordnance items, 153,148 anti-tank mines, 7,749 anti-personnel mines, and 8,687 explosive devices.

The total area cleared by the project since its operations began stands at 85,969,389 square meters. Landmines and war remnants continue to pose a persistent threat to civilian lives, particularly in regions that have experienced military confrontations throughout the years of conflict.
