Aden, Yemen's temporary capital, was targeted by a ballistic missile attack launched by Houthi militias early Friday. While air defenses intercepted some projectiles, others struck near military sites, civilian facilities, and residential areas in the western part of the city. Field sources reported that the Houthi militia fired several ballistic missiles toward Aden. Air defense systems successfully intercepted a number of them, while others landed in the vicinity of a Coalition forces' headquarters in the Al-Buraiqa district, west of the temporary capital. Journalist Fathi Bin Lazraq stated that one missile struck a facility belonging to the "Star Cement" factory, causing material damage. Several homes near the Coalition forces' headquarters also sustained damage, though no immediate information was available regarding casualties. Bin Lazraq added that, according to his information, the missiles were launched from elevated areas in the Al-Qaa'idah region of Ibb province in central Yemen. Local sources had previously reported hearing approximately five consecutive explosions in and around Aden's airspace, coinciding with the sounds of air defenses attempting to intercept the missiles. This attack occurs amidst escalating military activity on multiple Yemeni fronts, with ongoing confrontations between government forces and the Iran-backed Houthi militia. |
