Yemen Mine Clearance Project Removes Over 5,000 Explosives in September

The Masam project for demining in Yemen has cleared 5,164 mines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices left by Houthi militias in liberated areas since the beginning of September.

According to the Masam project's operations room, its teams successfully removed 4,452 unexploded ordnance, 631 anti-tank mines, 60 anti-personnel mines, and 21 explosive devices between September 1 and September 25. Concurrently, the project's personnel cleared 809,086 square meters of land contaminated by war remnants during the same period.

In the past week alone, Masam teams disposed of 1,277 explosive items, including 1,200 unexploded ordnance, 58 anti-tank mines, 9 anti-personnel mines, and 10 explosive devices. The area cleared during this past week amounted to 197,801 square meters.

In the Midi region, the Masam operations room reported that since the project's inception there, teams have removed 13,278 explosive items. The total area cleared in Midi has reached 4,925,514 square meters.

The Masam project continues its field operations across various Yemeni regions to address mines and war remnants, aiming to mitigate their risks to the civilian population and local communities.
