Yemeni government forces have recaptured the summit of Mount Naman and the Dar al-Kafir position overlooking the districts of Al-Wazi'iyah and Al- Mudharabah, following a military operation involving the Nation's Shield Forces, backed by brigades of the Giants Brigades. Military sources said the forces launched a coordinated night assault, followed by an encirclement of the positions before storming them at dawn on Friday. The operation forced Houthi fighters to withdraw from the area and inflicted heavy losses on their ranks, according to the sources. Mount Naman is considered a strategically important position due to its commanding view of supply routes linking Al-Wazi'iyah and Al-Mudharabah. The Houthis had used the site to monitor the surrounding area and shell nearby villages and military positions. The recapture of Mount Naman and Dar al-Kafir is expected to strengthen security around villages in Wadi Al-Mudharabah and the outskirts of Al-Wazi'iyah, while helping restrict infiltration along a key route previously used by Houthi forces. |
