Houthi Militia Reports 44 Fighters Killed, Including 18 Officers

The Houthi militia on Saturday conducted funeral services for 44 of its members in areas under its control, including commanders and field operatives who the militia claims were killed recently.

This latest announcement follows the militia's funeral for 60 fighters, including officers, held just 24 hours prior in several provinces such as Sana'a, Amran, Dhamar, and Hajjah.

The list of deceased, published by media outlets affiliated with the Houthi movement, included 18 individuals holding military ranks ranging from Second Lieutenant to Lieutenant Colonel, alongside 26 other members whose ranks were not specified.

The reported locations of origin for the deceased spanned multiple governorates, including Dhamar, Sana'a, Saada, Hajjah, Taiz, Amran, Al-Mahwit, Ibb, and Al-Hudaydah. The militia, in its customary practice, refrained from disclosing the specific fronts or circumstances under which most of its members were killed, limiting its statements to announcing their funerals and identifying their home regions.

According to Houthi-aligned media and activists, the list of those deceased included several officers, such as Lieutenant Colonels Hafiz Ali Ahmed Al-Shami, Ali Abdullah Ali Al-Yabas, and Hamza Ahmed Mohammed Al-Ghaili. Senior ranks like Majors Ahmed Khalid Al-Rehbi, Ali Qasim Mohammed Mu'adhin, and Ali Qaid Ahmed Al-Wadi were also listed, alongside Captains Hilal Hassan Ali Al-Hadhrani, Sakhr Ibrahim Ali Al-Hadhrani, Saif Ahmed Shaa'af, Shafiq Ahmed Mohammed Al-Ahnoumi, Ali Ali Mohammed Taher, and Mohammed Abdulwahed Al-Bakkari.

The recurring funeral announcements from the Houthi militia highlight a pattern of publicizing casualties, with the regularly published lists indicating significant human losses among its ranks, including officers and field commanders who held various military ranks.
