A senior Houthi field commander and six of his fighters were killed on Tuesday during combat operations on a front in Yemen's southwestern Taiz province.

A military source reported that among the casualties was Sheikh Ali Yahya Ahmed Al-Zikri, known as "Abu Yahya," who also served as a member of the local council in the Al-Soudah district of Amran province. The six other deceased fighters were identified as Nuh Hamoud Ateefah from the Bani Muhib district, Younis Mohammed Al-Fahd and Ali Abdullah Al-Qadi from the Nashir district, and Jalal Naji Al-Saidi, Ezzideen Ali Ghosham, and Nuruddin Ali Ghosham from the Mansour district.

The source further indicated that ten other fighters remain unaccounted for, with origins in the Bani Ahkam and Mansour districts.

The death of Al-Zikri follows the recent loss of his brother, known as "Abu Hamir Al-Zikri," and his son, Yahya Ali Yahya Al-Zikri, both of whom were also engaged in fighting for the Iran-backed Houthi militia.

The fronts in Taiz province periodically witness clashes between government forces and Houthi militia, reflecting ongoing military tensions in the province, which has been a significant theater of conflict in Yemen since the war began.
