Yemeni Forces Recapture Western Taiz Positions Amid Airstrikes on Houthis

Government forces recaptured strategic positions west of Taiz Governorate on Sunday, advancing towards new areas while airstrikes targeted Houthi militia sites and reinforcements.

According to a military source, the forces secured elevated positions overlooking the Jarad area in the Al-Shamaytayn district before pushing toward the Ghayl Bani Omar region. These military operations are aimed at reclaiming further territory and expelling Houthi militants from areas under their control in the governorate.

During the confrontations, government forces seized military equipment and weapons. The Houthi militia sustained human losses, though a specific casualty count was not provided. Concurrently, warplanes conducted a series of airstrikes on Houthi positions, gatherings, and military vehicles across various parts of Taiz.

The source detailed that the airstrikes hit Houthi vehicles and concentrations in the districts of Dhubab, Al-Waz'iyah, and Hayfan, in addition to a Houthi assembly in the Al-Afirah area of Jabal Habashi district. One of these strikes reportedly destroyed several military vehicles and detonated a cache of medium-caliber ammunition, resulting in the deaths of at least ten Houthi combatants.

These operations coincide with escalating military activity in Taiz Governorate, where intermittent clashes persist between government forces and the Houthis along multiple fronts. The government forces are endeavoring to broaden their operational scope and regain control of vital strategic locations within the governorate.
