Houthi Militia Reports 27 Fighters Killed in One Week, Including Senior Officers

The Iran-backed Houthi militia announced the funeral of 27 fighters over the past week, including high-ranking officers, bringing the total number of announced Houthi casualties since the beginning of August to 132.

According to Houthi media outlets, the funerals, held between August 24 and 30, took place across seven governorates under Houthi control. Sana'a recorded the highest number with 11 deaths, followed by Dhamar with five, and Sa'dah and Hajjah with three each. Ibb and Raymah reported two deaths apiece, while Amran had one.

The announced lists indicate that the militia awarded military ranks to several of its deceased combatants. Twelve individuals were identified as officers, including a Major General, four Colonels, a Lieutenant Colonel, three Majors, two Captains, and a First Lieutenant. The remaining 15 individuals listed did not have publicly declared military ranks.

The deceased included Major General Hassan Hussein Ali Mutahar from Bani Hashish district in Sana'a, and Colonels Abdullah Abdul Latif Ismail Al-Kabsy, Mohammed Ali Mohammed Jahaf, Yousef Douman Hussein Al-Yamani, and Omar Mutahar Al-Du'air. Several Majors, Captains, and a First Lieutenant were also among those listed.

These reported casualties come amid escalating reciprocal clashes on multiple fronts. The Houthi militia has intensified its missile and drone attacks on areas controlled by the internationally recognized government, while simultaneously facing military and air operations targeting its positions and movements.

The Houthi militia has recently increased the publication of announcements regarding the funerals of its fallen fighters, thereby revealing aspects of its human losses. However, these statements typically do not specify the location or timing of the fighters' deaths, nor do they encompass all casualties, as the militia often withholds information on dozens killed on the front lines. The announced figures suggest that most Houthi fighters mourned since early August held various military ranks, reflecting the participation of elements and leaders from different organizational levels in the militia's combat operations.
