ADEN, Yemen — A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck the Gulf of Aden about 173 km (107 miles) off the Yemeni coast, the Earthquake and Volcano Monitoring and Study Center said. The earthquake was recorded at 12:07 p.m. local time at a depth of 10 km, the center said. The center also said it had recorded two minor tremors in the hours before the earthquake southwest of Ataq city in Shabwa province, southeastern Yemen. Oman's meteorological service said there was no tsunami threat from the earthquake, which occurred in the eastern Gulf of Aden. |
