A dual act of sabotage targeting electricity transmission lines on Sunday afternoon has resulted in a widespread power outage across Marib Governorate. The attacks, which affected the transmission lines connecting the gas power station to the city, caused the gas station to go offline. According to the General Electricity Corporation in Marib, the initial act of sabotage involved an explosive projectile targeting Tower No. 96, which severed one of the power transmission line circuits. This incident was carried out by saboteurs. A second incident involved the placement of what the corporation described as a "device" on the first circuit by an individual identified as Sadeq Ajeen bin Maeilah. This further exacerbated the damage and led to the complete shutdown of the gas power station. Technical and engineering teams from the corporation, in collaboration with teams from the Transmission Lines Corporation and the management of the gas power station, have commenced damage assessment and technical evaluations. The objective is to determine the feasibility of restoring the electricity supply as swiftly as possible. The disruption to the power transmission lines occurs at a critical time, as Marib Governorate relies heavily on its electricity system to meet the essential needs of its citizens and vital public and service facilities. |
