Yemeni National Resistance Seizes Iranian Arms Shipment Destined for Houthis

The Yemeni National Resistance's naval forces announced on Sunday the interception of a vessel in the Red Sea carrying a shipment of military equipment and electronics allegedly originating from Iran and intended for the Houthi militia. The resistance stated the seized materials were meant for the development of offensive drones.

The operation, which reportedly took place on August 24, followed intelligence gathering on maritime activities linked to smuggling networks operating on behalf of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, according to the National Resistance.

Military media for the resistance reported that naval patrols were dispatched to the specified area, successfully intercepting and detaining the vessel and its crew. Video footage released by the resistance displayed some of the seized items, which reportedly included control and guidance systems, equipment for transmitting and processing live images, electronic components used in aviation systems and fuel injection, as well as radio communication devices, antennas, and other electronic parts.

While the forces indicated that some of the confiscated equipment could be utilized in the manufacturing and enhancement of offensive drones, they did not provide independent technical details verifying the specific source or intended final use of each component. The resistance also claimed that initial investigations with the vessel's crew yielded information regarding coordination methods and smuggling routes allegedly orchestrated by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.

The military media has stated it will release video footage on Monday containing crew confessions and further details about the shipment's transit. This operation occurs amidst ongoing accusations from the Yemeni government and Western nations alleging that Iran provides military and technical support to the Houthi militia, including components for drones and missiles, an accusation Tehran consistently denies.

The National Resistance affirmed that its naval and intelligence units continue their surveillance and interception operations to prevent military supplies from reaching the Houthis via the Red Sea. They noted that their forces experienced missile shelling on the west coast concurrently with the seizure operation but maintained that the attack did not impede their efforts to complete the interception and detention.
