Minesweeper Project Destroys 663 Explosive Remnants in Hadhramaut

The "Masaam" project for landmine clearance in Yemen, through its Special Tasks Force, has successfully neutralized 663 explosive remnants of war in Hadhramaut Governorate. The operation, conducted in coordination with the Executive Center for Mine Action in Mukalla, is part of ongoing efforts to cleanse areas contaminated by war debris.

The materials destroyed included seven anti-personnel mines, eight anti-tank mines, and 30 hand grenades. Additionally, dozens of unexploded ordnance and shells were rendered safe, comprising 66 artillery shells of 37mm caliber, five shells of 82mm caliber, and nine mortar shells of the same caliber. The clearance also covered 315 DShK rounds of 12.7mm caliber and 223 artillery shell fuses.

This operation marks the tenth such disposal in Hadhramaut Governorate since mid-January. The total number of explosive items cleared by "Masaam" teams in the governorate since January 17th has reached approximately 16,850, including landmines, improvised explosive devices, and unexploded ordnance.

These neutralization efforts are implemented under a program designed to mitigate the risks posed by landmines and war remnants, which pose a significant threat to civilian lives, particularly in regions that have experienced military confrontations in recent years.
