The Masam landmine clearance project in Yemen has announced the neutralization of 2,500 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices between July 1 and July 10. This operation is part of ongoing efforts to clear war-affected areas and enhance civilian safety.

According to a statement released by Masam's media office, the project's operations room reported that its teams cleared 1,293 explosive items during the second week of July. This total included 1,218 unexploded ordnance items, 65 anti-tank mines, 2 anti-personnel mines, and 8 improvised explosive devices.

The statement further detailed that from the beginning of the month up to July 10, the total number of cleared items comprised 2,283 unexploded ordnance items, 167 anti-tank mines, 36 anti-personnel mines, and 14 improvised explosive devices.

In terms of land clearance, Masam indicated that its teams secured an area of approximately 355,227 square meters last week. This brings the total area secured since the beginning of the month to 667,491 square meters.

Masam confirmed that its teams continued operations in several areas contaminated with mines and war remnants. The project noted that the total number of mines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices cleared in the Midi region since the project's inception there has reached 10,736.

These humanitarian efforts by Project Masam aim to mitigate the risks posed by landmines and war debris, thereby securing affected areas, protecting civilians, and facilitating the return to normal life in communities impacted by the conflict.
