The General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology in Yemen has announced the closure of all airports nationwide to air traffic until further notice, effective immediately.

A circular issued by the authority, addressed to all airlines and international organizations operating flights to and from Yemeni airports, stated that all airports are closed. This directive comes in the wake of airstrikes carried out by the Yemeni government's Ministry of Defense on Sana'a International Airport.

The Ministry of Defense confirmed these airstrikes were executed to prevent the landing of an Iranian aircraft. However, the Iranian plane reportedly diverted its course and landed at Al Hudaydah Airport.

The decision to suspend all air traffic raises significant concerns for ongoing humanitarian aid operations and civilian travel within and to Yemen. The Ministry of Defense has previously warned of intercepting any hostile aerial incursions, indicating a heightened state of alert and a willingness to enforce airspace control.
