The Masam project's operations room announced the successful deactivation of 2,843 mines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices between June 1st and June 12th, as part of ongoing efforts to secure war-affected areas and protect civilians. A statement released by the operations room detailed that the deactivated items included 2,708 unexploded ordnance items, 104 anti-tank mines, 29 anti-personnel mines, and two improvised explosive devices. During this period, engineering teams cleared 635,652 square meters of Yemeni territory. The statement further indicated that during the second week of June alone, Masam teams deactivated 2,045 mines, unexploded ordnance items, and explosive devices. This figure comprised 1,927 unexploded ordnance items, 98 anti-tank mines, 18 anti-personnel mines, and two improvised explosive devices. Field teams also cleared 451,108 square meters of land during the past week, continuing humanitarian operations aimed at reducing the risks posed by mines and unexploded ordnance in Yemen. In the Midi district of Hajjah Governorate, the project achieved a new milestone, bringing the total number of deactivated items since operations began in the area to 10,178 mines, unexploded ordnance items, and explosive devices. Additionally, 3,276,724 square meters of land have been cleared in Midi. The Masam operations room affirmed the continued deployment of engineering teams in various Yemeni regions. These efforts are crucial for securing land, safeguarding civilians, and enabling residents to safely resume their agricultural and daily lives. |
