Houthi militiamen besieged and violently assaulted a civilian, Hilaal Al-Barashi, in his home in the Tumba village of Ibb governorate's Yarim district, after forcibly expelling his family and abducting him. This act of aggression was reportedly facilitated by a Houthi security supervisor allegedly bribed to intervene in a familial dispute.

Local sources indicated that a figure identified as Dhu al-Fiqar al-Ayan, who impersonates a Houthi security supervisor, led an armed group that imposed a night-long siege on Al-Barashi's residence. According to these sources, as dawn broke and Al-Barashi emerged to start his vehicle, the armed elements opened fire on him, forcing him to flee to a neighbor's house.

Following his escape, the Houthi elements stormed Al-Barashi's home, using weapons to drive out the women and children before sealing the property. They then pursued Al-Barashi to his neighbor's home, where they forcibly entered, subjected him to severe beatings, and subsequently abducted him to the residence of Mohammed Ali Saleh al-Ayan. He was reportedly released later.

Sources confirmed that the motive behind this egregious violation stemmed from family disputes between Al-Barashi and certain relatives. It is alleged that the opposing party hired the Houthi supervisor, al-Ayan, with financial compensation to leverage his security position and weaponry to attack Al-Barashi and settle personal scores.

Recent times have seen an escalation in severe violations and assaults perpetrated by Houthi militia supervisors against citizens in Ibb governorate. The militia's security functions and military influence have reportedly been transformed into tools for extortion, settling personal vendettas, and illicit financial collection, all within a complete absence of a legal framework to protect civilians from the brutality and overreach of Houthi leadership and their armed gangs.
