A Syrian soldier and doctor, along with his wife, were killed and several civilians and security personnel injured in an attack by an armed individual in Aden's Al-Mansoura district on Thursday evening.

Local sources reported that a guard accompanying the Governor of Aden opened fire indiscriminately at a force tasked with securing the home of the Minister of State and Governor of Aden, Abdulrahman Sheikh. This resulted in the immediate death of soldier Ahmed Al-Batani and injuries to several colleagues.

The intense gunfire also led to the deaths of Syrian doctor Sameh Ahmed Ahsan and his wife, also a doctor, who happened to be passing by the vicinity of the incident when it occurred. Further casualties included injuries to security forces present at the scene, with one critically wounded individual from the guard of Al-Sahaba Mosque being transferred to intensive care. Personnel from the Darain police, facility guards, and national security forces also sustained injuries.

Security forces immediately cordoned off the area. According to the Aden Security Directorate, a pursuit and manhunt for the suspect commenced immediately. The individual was later cornered and dealt with, resulting in his death at the scene. One national security soldier was injured during this operation.

In contrast, the official page of the local authority for Aden Governorate stated that the perpetrator managed to escape, presenting conflicting accounts regarding the gunman's fate.
