Brigadier General Yahya Wahesh, commander of the First Division of the National Resistance, was martyred on Saturday when an improvised explosive device targeted his convoy on the West Coast.

The military media wing confirmed the incident, stating that the explosive device detonated as Wahesh and his companions were passing through an area on the West Coast. The blast resulted in casualties among those in the convoy.

Injured individuals were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Tragically, Brigadier General Wahesh succumbed to his injuries, along with one of his escorts. Two other individuals sustained varying degrees of wounds.

Initial intelligence suggests that Houthi militias are suspected of planting the explosive device. Authorities are continuing their investigations to ascertain the full circumstances of the attack and identify those responsible.

Brigadier General Wahesh was appointed commander of the First Division of the National Resistance last month as part of a broader reorganization of military forces stationed on the West Coast, aimed at enhancing combat readiness and unifying field command.

The martyred commander was among the earliest fighters to confront the Houthis, participating in battles in Kataf, Saada Governorate, as early as 2013. He was also recognized as a prominent field leader in the operations to liberate the West Coast, from Dhubab and Bab al-Mandab to the city of Hodeidah.
