The temporary capital of Yemen, Aden, experienced a severe escalation in its electricity crisis on Tuesday, with power outages exceeding 11 hours. This deterioration is attributed to a collapse in the generation system and the shutdown of major power stations.

Local sources indicated that the latest breakdown occurred after the Al-Masila power station, also known as the "Presidential Station," one of the city's primary generation facilities, ceased operations. This event plunged the electrical grid into a critical state, coinciding with rising temperatures and increased energy demand.

According to the sources, the electrical system failed on Tuesday morning, and the Presidential Station remained offline through the time of reporting. This significantly extended the duration of blackouts and drastically reduced operational capacity.

The power supply is currently reliant on the Al-Mansoura station and a limited number of auxiliary stations with low output. These capacities are insufficient to meet the growing needs of the population.

Concurrently, Aden's solar power station registered a notable decrease in electricity production due to dense cloud cover, diminishing its contribution to alleviating the existing deficit in the public grid.

Aden frequently faces acute electricity crises during the summer months, characterized by increased load, deteriorating infrastructure, and a shortage of fuel required to operate generation plants, exacerbating the suffering of residents in the coastal city.
