Yemen's mine clearance project, "Masam," has reported the removal of 839 mines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices during the first week of May, underscoring the ongoing threat posed by remnants of war to civilians in liberated areas.

The operational room for "Masam," a humanitarian initiative focused on demining in Yemen, announced that its field teams continue to conduct operations to clear mines and war debris across various Yemeni regions. These efforts aim to protect civilians and secure affected territories.

According to a statement released by the project's media office, the teams successfully cleared 721 unexploded ordnance items, 95 anti-tank mines, 12 anti-personnel mines, and 11 improvised explosive devices during the specified period. This comprehensive removal highlights the persistent dangers these remnants pose to civilian lives.

The operational room confirmed that "Masam" teams also successfully surveyed and cleared an area of approximately 314,258 square meters of Yemeni land in the past week. These engineering survey and field clearance operations are crucial for rehabilitating areas impacted by war debris and enabling the safe return of residents to their normal lives.

In a broader context, the statement noted that since commencing its operations in the Midi district of Hajjah Governorate, "Masam" teams have collectively removed a total of 9,427 mines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices. These ongoing efforts are vital for enhancing community safety and restoring stability to liberated regions.
