Houthi militia forces have permitted the family of lawyer Abdulmajeed Sabra to visit him for the first time since his abduction approximately seven months ago, held without legal justification in a Sana'a prison. Shafiq Al-Muhami, Walid Sabra, stated that the visit occurred at the Security and Intelligence prison in the Sarif area, north of the Houthi-controlled capital Sana'a. His brother was transferred from Shumlah prison, but has not been released. Walid Sabra further explained that his brother informed him during the visit that he had agreed to conditions presented to him in exchange for his release. However, Houthi authorities have not responded to these developments and have provided no justification for his continued detention, nor have they agreed to refer his case to the public prosecutor. According to the family, the Houthi militia had stipulated that his release was contingent upon him abandoning his work defending abductees and those forcibly disappeared, and ceasing all human rights activities permanently. This development comes as the militia continues to refuse Sabra's release, despite his apparent agreement to their terms. |
