Fires broke out in the Khor Fakkan port in the United Arab Emirates and a petrochemical facility in Bahrain on Sunday, following separate incidents involving drone attacks and aerial interceptions. Authorities in the Emirate of Sharjah reported that a fire erupted at Khor Fakkan port shortly after debris from an Iranian aerial target, intercepted by air defense systems, fell in the area. The fire was brought under control with no significant damage reported. The Sharjah government media office stated that emergency teams responded swiftly to extinguish the blaze and are continuing cooling operations at the site. One Nepalese worker sustained critical injuries and was transported to the hospital, while three Pakistani workers suffered minor to moderate injuries. In Bahrain, environmental authorities confirmed that air quality remains within normal levels despite a drone attack targeting an industrial facility that caused a fire in some of its operational units. The Supreme Council for Environment indicated that field monitoring has not registered any abnormal increases in pollution levels, assuring that surveillance systems are operational around the clock across all governorates. Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) had previously reported a fire in several of its units early Sunday due to a drone attack, which was subsequently contained by firefighting teams without any casualties. Bahraini authorities emphasized that surveys conducted in residential areas surrounding the facilities showed no indications of environmental risks. Precautionary measures are continuing to be implemented in coordination with relevant entities. |
