Youth Fatally Shot Outside Home in Al-Bayda Amid Escalating Security Crisis

A young man was fatally shot by unidentified assailants in front of his residence in the city of Rada'a, Al-Bayda Governorate, which remains under Houthi control, in an incident shrouded in mystery.

A local source informed the news agency that the victim, identified as Anwar Amin Al-Maghni, was killed in cold blood on the second day of Eid. The source indicated that the motive for the killing may stem from a prior dispute that occurred in the final days of the holy month of Ramadan.

The source detailed that the deceased was working at a clothing stall in the Al-Ma'rad market (Al-Abahi Market) when a verbal altercation erupted between him and two unidentified young men who deliberately walked over and disturbed his merchandise in a provocative manner. The confrontation escalated into a physical fight, during which Al-Maghni defended his livelihood and managed to overpower one of the individuals before bystanders intervened to break up the scuffle.

According to the source, one of the young men left the scene issuing threats and warnings against Al-Maghni, strongly suggesting that this prior incident is the primary catalyst for his subsequent tracking and execution outside his home.

Residents and local community members have formally demanded that the security agencies operating under the de facto Houthi authority review surveillance footage from the vicinity of the clothing stall in the Al-Ma'rad market from the last days of Ramadan to identify and apprehend the suspects.

This incident occurs amid a worrying surge in homicides and widespread security disintegration plaguing the city of Rada'a and other areas controlled by the militia, highlighting the perceived inability or indifference of the security apparatus to curb these violations.
