The Yemen Mine Action Project (MASAM) announced that its field teams successfully cleared 1,263 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) from various regions across Yemen during the first week of March, as part of ongoing efforts to mitigate the risks posed by war remnants to civilians.

The project's operations room, via its media office, detailed that during the specified period, specialized task forces and rotating teams removed 1,227 units of unexploded ordnance, alongside 33 anti-tank mines and three anti-personnel mines.

Furthermore, the statement indicated that the specialized task forces managed to demine and clear approximately 8,200 square meters of land contaminated by war debris, continuing operations aimed at securing affected areas for safe civilian use.

In related developments, the operations room confirmed that since commencing its work in the Midi district, the project teams have collectively neutralized a total of 8,253 mines, unexploded ordnance, and IEDs.

MASAM continues its demining operations across several Yemeni governorates with the objective of drastically reducing the threat posed by mines and UXO to civilian lives, thereby enabling local communities to resume their normal activities safely.
