Houthi rebels attack government military positions in Hays district

Six Yemeni soldiers were killed in an overnight attack launched by the Houthi rebels in an attempt to seize military positions in Hays district, local government and military sources said.

Xinhua news agency reported on Sunday morning that the Houthi rebels launched a large-scale attack late Saturday night on several military positions in Hays district, red sea coastal province of Hodeidah in western Yemen.

According to authorities, the clash lasted for hours, leaving six dead and about 10 others wounded. Dozens of Houthi fighters were also killed or injured, according to the sources.

There was no immediate comment from the Houthi rebels.
